New fitness craze combines strength and sensuality
TOLEDO, OH -- Forget the gym.
Lose the treadmill.
Get ready for a fitness class that combines strength training,
dance and sensuality.
Pole dance fitness.
It's been around for about seven years, but it's recently had a
surge in popularity. Celebrities are fans, but so are everyday
women. Here in Toledo, doctors, lawyers and police officers
dance on the pole at Paulette's Studio of Dance.
The class starts with floor work, every stretch showing some
sensuality. Then, the women practice their sexy walk and finally
they move to the pole.
But, there's much more then just a physical benefit to this
workout. Researchers say, this type of workout is a chance to
express sexuality without being judged by stereotypical social
norms.
Women in the class say that while you're working out with other
women, it's a very personal experience.
Women of all shapes, sizes and ages have taken their turn at the
pole, all gaining strength physically and emotionally.
