Samba
The Samba originated in Brazil. It was and is danced as a
festival dance during street festivals and celebrations. It was
adopted by Brazilian society in 1930 as a ballroom dance. The style
is to bounce steadily and smoothly in 2/4 meter. The Samba was
introduced in the U.S. in 1939 by the Latina actress Carmen Miranda.
Samba fits most of today's popular music.
